FAQ
Is BatchClips really free?
Yes — PKR 0 / $0. No subscription and no licence fee. No invite code is required. Simply download the installer, sign in with Google to activate your free account, and start creating vertical shorts.
Why is the installer ~270 MB but first run downloads more?
The core app ships ffmpeg and the engine. The Whisper speech model (~500 MB) downloads once on first use and stays on your PC. GPU users may optionally download CUDA libraries (~800 MB) for faster transcription.
Windows SmartScreen blocked it — is it safe?
The build is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a warning for new publishers. Click More info → Run anyway. The app runs locally and does not upload your video.
Do I need an NVIDIA GPU?
No. CPU transcription works out of the box. If you have an NVIDIA card, open Settings → Download GPU pack once for much faster runs on long videos.
Does my video upload anywhere?
No. Downloads, transcription and rendering happen on your computer. Only Google sign-in and anonymous usage counts reach our licence server.
How do updates work?
The app checks for updates automatically from our server. yt-dlp (YouTube downloader) can also be updated from Settings when YouTube changes.
